Karthika Masam

The Karthika Masam has many meanings, but its most significant one is that it is fortunate for both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu worshipers. The Karthika Masam or Karthik month is very significant because this is when the year is starting to move into what is called Kaivalya pada. In terms of sadhana, Dakshinayana is for purification, Uttarayana is for enlightenment. The Sadhana pada was the time of plowing, seeding and cultivating.
